Custom Software Development for Small Businesses

Your team has outgrown “just put it in the sheet.”

The spreadsheet was helpful. Then it acquired twelve tabs, an instruction manual, and a person who must never take leave. I build custom business software that puts the work, owner, deadline, and next action in one place.

When it fits

Start with a problem your team already feels.

For service businesses with a repeatable process that their current tools cannot handle cleanly: quoting, job tracking, scheduling, approvals, or reporting.

A possible first workflow

A customer sends a quote request. Today, someone copies the details into a sheet, asks a colleague for pricing, and checks email for approval. A focused app can collect the request, apply agreed pricing rules, route it for review, and show who needs to act next.

What we can build

The pieces that make the workflow usable.

One complete workflow

A clear path from intake to completion, with the owners, statuses, and exceptions your team actually uses.

Roles and shared records

Customer and job information in a consistent place, with access designed around each person’s responsibilities.

Useful connections

Keep the specialist tools that work. Connect supported APIs or imports where that removes duplicate entry.

A usable handoff

A launched application, team walkthrough, documentation, and code and accounts that belong to your business.

Scope and success

A clear first version. A result you can check.

A focused quoting or job-tracking workflow can be a useful first release. A complete replacement for accounting, payroll, inventory, and every department is a different project. We agree the scope before the build starts.

How to measure the improvement

Track the time from request to completion, manual touches per job, and work waiting without an owner. Take a baseline before kickoff so you can compare the actual result after launch.

You receive a clear scope and proposal before kickoff, with 50% to start and 50% after handoff. It includes launch, training, documentation, and 30 days of stabilization. Hosting, provider charges, ongoing maintenance, and new features are separate. Read the full scope and delivery terms.

Before you decide

Should I buy software instead?

Often, yes. If a standard product fits the workflow with sensible configuration, start there. Custom software makes more sense when recurring workarounds are expensive and the process is specific to your business.

Can you migrate my spreadsheet?

We review the data, duplicates, permissions, and import format first. The agreed migration can be part of the scope; substantial cleanup or historical reconciliation must be identified before pricing.

Who maintains the app?

The build includes 30 days of stabilization for the agreed workflow. Hosting, provider charges, ongoing maintenance, and future features are planned separately. You own the code and can choose who supports it.

Walk me through the “it’s a long story” part.

I’m happy to hear the long story. We’ll work out whether to configure a tool, connect what you have, or build something custom.
